If you want to get tanned at an indoor tanning facility, the result will come in the same way
when you get tanned in the sun. In indoor tanning you will have an extra advantage. You can
control the amount of UV rays as per your need. But obviously, you cannot control the UV
exposure when you are tanning outside, because you do not have any control on
atmosphere. In indoor tanning, as you can control the whole thing, there is less chance to
get sunburned.
How does a tanning bed work? The sun emits three kinds of ultra violet rays and one of
them is responsible to make you tan. Basically, tanning beds try to imitate the Sun. UV-C
rays of the sun are the most harmful ray and has the shortest wavelength among the three.
Ozone layer and pollution, absorb it. UVA and UVB start working. UV-B has the middle
wavelength and it is responsible to start the tanning process. UV-A owns the longest
wavelength. UV-A completes the tanning process. In indoor tanning, tanning lamps follow a
healthy ration of the UVA and UVB rays to give you optimal result without any sunburn
issue.
Follow some tips when you are enjoying the indoor tanning process:-
1. At first, choose a good quality salon having good sun tanning beds. Don’t fall into a
trap of discount or cheap products. Be confident enough to choose a right place to
tan.
2. Prepare your skin before you start the process. Exfoliate your skin thoroughly to
remove dead cells, dirt and grime. Use mild soap/body wash and water. Scrub your
whole body in a circular motion to remove lifeless skin. It will help to tan you more
effectively. Apply light moisturizer after cleansing.
3. If you are going for regular sitting, ten minutes of sitting is good enough. Ask your
salon expert and if you are tolerant with this, gradually increase time up to 25
minutes.
4. Have a shower after three or four hours after tanning. Don’t forget to apply
moisturizer.
5. Apply suntanning cream on your eyes. Good salons will provide you eye protection
like goggles or masks. Wear that. Your eyelids are too delicate to deal with the
tanning process. So keep them safe.
6. Protect your lips. Apply lip balm before every tanning session. Lips don’t have
melanin to be brown. To get rid of chapped and flaked lips, protect with moisturizing
lip balm with a good SPF value.
7. Ask your doctor if you are on certain medication. Be sure, tanning beds are perfectly
fine for you and the process is not going to show any adverse effect.
8. Cover your genital part during the tanning process. The skin of that part of body is
more sensitive than other parts and gets easily burned.
9. Try to minimize exposure for all your sensitive areas of the body. For example, you
can apply sunscreen on your armpits generously.
10. A number of bronzer lotions can blemish your cloths. Be cautious about that.
